Welcome to our Rights Respecting School.

We have now achieved the Level 1 RRS Award.

(March 2013)

In 1989, governments worldwide promised all children the same rights by adopting the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). These rights are based on what a child needs to survive, grow, participate and fulfil their potential. They apply equally to every child in the world, regardless of who they are, or where they are from.

Even though every child across the word has the same rights, our work in Llanrhidian is discovering that not all children get these rights.

We believe that if our children grow up aware of such rights, they are going to become the adults that can really change our future world.

Here are just some of the reasons we feel it is so important:-

Personal and Social Education – The Rights Respecting School Award (RRSA) provides a moral framework of globally accepted values.

The School Ethos. – The RRSA places a high value on positive relationships within a school and within classrooms.

Healthy Schools- The RRSA would contribute to the Healthy schools work that we are doing.

Pupil Voice – The voice of pupils is central to the ethos of the Rights Respecting School.

Respecting Others – Anti-Bullying – Helping children and young people understand their rights and empower them to look at linked responsibilities supports this guidance and raises the emphasis on respecting others.
