🌟 Llanrhidian Primary Selected as a Swansea Council Flagship Community Focused School! 🌟

We are incredibly proud to share that Llanrhidian Primary School has been chosen as one of Swansea Council’s Flagship Community Focused Schools!

Swansea Council received a very high number of strong applications, and competition for places on the pilot was exceptionally tough. Being selected is a huge recognition of the fantastic work already happening within our school to support learners, families, and the wider community.

This exciting opportunity means we will now be working closely with the council as part of the next phase of the Community Focused Schools Pilot. Over the coming weeks, we will be meeting with the project lead to plan how this partnership can help us further strengthen the support and opportunities we provide for our children and families.

Thank you to our wonderful staff, families, and community—this achievement reflects the hard work, care, and commitment we see every day.

We look forward to sharing updates with you as the project develops!

ECO News

🌱🌱🌱🌱🌟🌟Last week we told you about our Plantinum Eco Schools award and this week Morgan Nicholas from 'Keep Wales Tidy' has sent us a lovely message after visiting the school for the assessment.🌱🌱🌱🌱🌟

'I really loved seeing how embedded Eco-Schools is within the school, and how passionate your Eco Warriors are about the initiatives—especially the simple but powerful actions like turning lights off!

Your y Goedwig is such a special space. It’s clear how much it’s valued by both pupils and staff, and it provides a brilliant outdoor learning environment that feels really well used and cared for.

The polytunnel is fantastic too—such a great way to keep outdoor learning going even when the weather isn’t on your side. It was lovely to see so much being grown, including sunflowers and strawberries, and to see natural crafts being brought into learning.

I also think it’s amazing that you’ve been able to sell trees to parents to help raise funds for Eco-Schools—such a great way to involve the wider school community.

And it’s brilliant to see you taking part in things like 30 Days Wild (and even hugging trees!). It’s such a lovely, accessible resource, and it’s great to see it being used so well.'

✏️ Easter Home Learning – Ready, Respectful, Safe Character Competition

This year we have been fostering positive behaviour through our whole-school approach: “Ready, Respectful, Safe.”
To support this, our pupils have helped to develop three new behaviour characters:

πŸ¦‹ Barod Butterfly
🐦 Respectful Robin
πŸ•ΈοΈ Mr Safety Web

For Easter Home Learning, we would like to give all pupils the opportunity to design and create an image for each of these characters – just like Mr Colourful all those years ago!

πŸŽ‰ Three winning designs (one for each character) will be announced in assembly on Friday 17th April.

πŸ“© All entries should be handed in to Mrs Chafey and must include your child’s name.

We can’t wait to see the creativity and imagination from our wonderful pupils!

🌱 Planting Day – Friday 24th April! 🌼

Our annual Planting Day will take place on Friday 24th April! 🌷πŸͺ΄
Children will spend the day preparing our garden areas and adding lots of colour to make our school grounds beautiful for the summer term. 🌿✨

πŸ“… Please check the school calendar for more details.

πŸ”§ πŸ’ΌCareers Fair - Friday 8th May

πŸ“… Thank you to those who have already responded to our Instagram post about the upcoming Careers Fair.

We are looking for additional volunteers who may be available on Friday 8th May from 1:00pm to 3:00pm to help support the event. If you are able to attend and speak to the pupils about your career, we would love to hear from you.

πŸŒŸπŸ… Sports Day – 10th June! πŸ…πŸŒŸ

We’re excited to announce that Sports Day will take place on 10th June! πŸŽ‰πŸŽ½
It’s always one of the highlights of our school year, and we can’t wait for a fun-filled day of teamwork, races, and school spirit! πŸ’›πŸ’ͺ

Pengwin: I would be able to fly so I could fly to Sri Lanka because I love Sri Lanka.

Support for Families from the North Gower Food Hub

We wanted to share information about a brilliant local service that may help families during school holiday periods. The North Gower Food Hub offers up to 12 weeks of food support for households across most of the Gower. There’s no need for vouchers or social services referrals, and the team works with complete confidentiality.

Support is delivered directly to your home every Friday, or to school during term time if that’s easier for you.

If you feel your family could benefit from a little extra help, you can get in touch with the Food Hub here:

Schools can also make a referral on your behalf (with your permission).

A small reminder: this service covers most of the Gower, except Gorseinon, Gowerton, Killay, West Cross and Mumbles, as these areas have their own food banks.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out—support is there if you need it.
