    Caffi Cynefin

At Llanrhidian Primary School, community is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that strong relationships between pupils, families, staff, and the wider community create a nurturing and inspiring environment for learning and growth.

One of the ways we celebrate and strengthen these connections is through our Caffi Cynefin – a pupil-led community café that runs every Thursday morning during term time. It’s a warm, welcoming space where families, neighbours, and friends can come together over a cup of tea or coffee, enjoy delicious homemade treats, and support our young learners as they take on roles in hospitality, customer service, and enterprise.

The café has become a cherished weekly tradition and was even highlighted in our recent Estyn inspection as a shining example of pupil voice and community engagement.

    Local Area Co-ordinators

    About LACs!

The Local Area Coordination Vision is that ‘All people live in welcoming communities that provide friendship, mutual support, equity and opportunities for everyone’. Local Area Coordination ‘Builds connections, helps people to stay strong and share their gifts in the local community and nurtures inclusive, welcoming and self-supporting communities.’

"We have a team Local Area Coordinators in communities across Swansea. The team are active and visible in communities, providing advice, information and support for people for any number of reasons. We have no eligibility criteria and can be introduced to anyone. We walk alongside people with no time limits, helping them identify and work towards their good life, often looking at issues around loneliness and isolation, mental health problems, bereavement, debt, housing, etc. And helping people explore their strengths, interests and developing their contribution to their communities.

GPs, practice managers and any other staff in surgeries can get in touch with a local area coordinator about any patient and ask them to get in touch, with their consent. Generally, we get a lot of introductions this way, many come from social services and third sector organisations, but we also are introduced to many people directly from the community, via family, friends and neighbours, and indeed  directly from people getting in touch themselves. Often these people will not be known to any other services and we can provide support to ensure they stay stronger for longer, outside of formal services."

    Parish News

The school  contributes to the  Llangennith Parish News Letter.  As a community school, staff support this through writing articles relating to the curriculum offer we provide for our pupils.  Many thanks to Debbie Lloyd who pull this important communication together each month.
