🤠📚 Llanrhidian Primary School Helps Launch the Dolly Parton Imagination Library! 📚🤠

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We were delighted to be selected as one of just three schools in Swansea to help lead the launch of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Wales.

The official launch took place on Wednesday at Clwyd Primary School, bringing together schools, partners and members of the community to celebrate this exciting initiative, which aims to inspire a love of reading and books in young children.

This was a significant opportunity for Llanrhidian Primary School, and we were incredibly proud to play a role in such a high-profile event. The launch received media attention and highlighted the positive impact that the programme will have on families and children across the region. Check us out on BBC Wales news tonight at 6pm!

A special thank you must go to Mrs Alexander, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to support the initiative. Her dedication, organisation and commitment were instrumental in ensuring that our school could be involved, and we are extremely grateful for all her hard work. 👏 ⭐ 🤠 ⭐ 👏

We were also incredibly proud of the small group of pupils who represented our school and performed a superb line dance especially for the event. They were fantastic ambassadors for Llanrhidian Primary School and demonstrated great confidence, enthusiasm and professionalism throughout the morning.

The Dolly Parton Imagination Library is a wonderful programme that encourages children to develop a lifelong love of reading, and we are thrilled to have been involved in its launch. 📚 🤠 🤠 📚

Join us for our Llanrhidian Launch! 🤠

We would love you to join us at Caffi Cynefin next Thursday 12th November for our special Llanrhidian Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library launch event. Come and “pour yourself a cup of ambition” -and tea! Not quite 9 to 5, but a lovely morning with our community.

Come and see our fantastic cowboy line dancers perform at 9.15am and 10.45am – they would really appreciate a big, supportive audience!

This is a drop-in event, so please pop along at any point to find out how you can get involved with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. Whether you have a child aged 0–5 who may be eligible for the programme, or you are a local business interested in supporting this worthwhile cause for our children, we would love to speak to you.

Please spread the word, invite members of our school community and, of course, wear your cowboy hat and join in the fun! 🤠

Prop and Sip Night – Thursday 12th November

We would love you to join us for our Prop and Sip Night as we begin making props for our Christmas concert!

Come along for a relaxed evening of crafting, chatting and helping us bring the show to life. If you are unable to make it but have any spare cardboard or resources at home that could be useful for props, please send it to school with your child.

Thank you for your support – we cannot wait to get creative!

    Christmas Concert Outfits

Please have a look at our Christmas Concert Costume List below, which includes simple costume ideas for each role. https://canva.link/r9kk3qu9dv7sgft

We would be grateful if costumes could be sent to school in a clearly labelled bag, on a hanger where possible, by Tuesday 1st December, ready for our dress rehearsal.

Please remember that this is absolutely not a “must buy” request. If you have suitable clothing or accessories at home and can help us put costumes together, we would be incredibly grateful.

We are also looking for a few volunteers to help with face painting on the day of the performances. If you are available to help, please let the school office know.

    Clwb Hwyl Update

Over the next few weeks, Clwb Hwyl will include script practice for our Year 6 pupils as we prepare for the Christmas concert.

Our offer for Years 4 and 5 may look slightly different from the usual schedule while we accommodate these rehearsals. However, pupils are still very welcome to attend and enjoy Clwb Hwyl!

    Home Learning

New White Rose Maths activities have been added as part of this week’s home learning.

    Parents’ Evening Reminder

For parents’ evening meetings, teacher meetings will take place in the school hall. Please use the playground entrance to access the hall, then wait in the Pry Cop corridor until a member of staff greets you. We look forward to meeting with you to discuss your child's progress.

    Attendance Matters

    🌟 Every Day Counts! 🌟

A great attendance record helps children build confidence, strengthen friendships, and make the most of every exciting learning opportunity. Every day in school is a chance to learn something new, create special memories, and be part of our wonderful school community.

Let's work together to give every child the best possible start by making attendance a priority. Your child's attendance really does matter! 💛📚⭐

    Supporting the Community

    Christmas Voucher Scheme 2026/27

As we approach the festive season, we know that Christmas can bring additional financial pressures for some families. We would like to make parents and carers aware of the Councillor Christmas Voucher Scheme 2026/27, which may be able to provide support to households facing financial difficulties this winter.

The scheme provides supermarket vouchers to eligible families to help with the cost of food and other essential household expenses during the Christmas period.

    How can families access support?

Local Swansea ward councillors are able to refer households that they believe would benefit from the scheme. If you feel that your family could benefit from this support, or if you are aware of another family within our school community who may be struggling, we encourage you to get in touch with the school.

Any conversations will be treated with care, sensitivity and confidentiality. We can help signpost families to the appropriate support and, where appropriate, liaise with local councillors regarding potential referrals.

    Contacting Your Local Councillor

Families can also contact their local ward councillor directly. Details of Swansea councillors can be found here:

    We're Here to Help

We understand that asking for support can sometimes feel difficult, but please remember that help is available and that any concerns shared with the school will be treated respectfully and confidentially.

If you think you, or another family, may benefit from this scheme, please do not hesitate to contact the school office.
