Annwyl Parents and Carers,

Despite the soggy September skies here in Llanrhidian, the learning has been anything but dampened! From toasting s’mores in Y Goedwig to enthusiastic sign-ups for our Pupil Voice groups, it’s been a week full of energy and engagement.

We’re thrilled to announce that Caffi Cynefin is back in action—and what a start! Our new Year 4 pupils have stepped into their roles with confidence and care, helping to create a welcoming space for all. As part of our ongoing celebration of creativity and community, we’re once again inviting contributions to our Oriel Cynefin gallery. If you have artwork or photography you’d like to share, we’d love to display it in our hall. It’s a wonderful way to showcase the talents and stories of our school family.

Be sure to check out the updated ‘Dates at a Glance’ section on our website, where you’ll find newly added events—including the date for our Autumn Term Parents Evening. More details will be shared with you very soon, including how to book an appointment.

Pod Open Evening – Monday 6th October

We warmly invite all parents and carers to join us for our annual Pod Open Evening. This informal event offers a fantastic opportunity to explore your child’s learning journey at Llanrhidian. You’ll be able to:

  • Chat with teachers
  • Browse your child’s books and digital projects
  • Ask questions about our curriculum and classroom life

Unlike our formal Autumn and Spring Term Parents Evening, this event has a relaxed atmosphere where your child can proudly guide you through their school experience. No booking is required—just drop in anytime between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm.

Please note: due to the open nature of the event, teachers won’t be able to hold private discussions about individual pupils. These conversations are best saved for our scheduled Parents Evening later in the term.

Pupil Question: What is your favourite thing about Y Goedwig?

Pengwin: We made Marshallows! They were gooey and sticky and went in the fire. We also had biscuits, they were really nice!

Pysgodyn: Climbing the trees because it is very fun! We are learning to take care of ourselves because you could fall down and hurt yourself but we know how to keep safe.

Pry Cop: We get to be outside and we get to play but we also are learning while we are playing. When we go on the tight rope, we are improving our balance and taking risks but also we are just having fun in the trees

Mrs Gosney’s Corner: What we notice... ✨

At Llanrhidian Primary, we are committed to teaching positive behaviours and supporting all children to meet our high expectations. Our inclusive learning environment is built on adult behaviour that is both strong on boundaries and big on heart.

We’re delighted that the approach we use in school is now accessible to families too. Over the coming months, we’ll be sharing practical ideas here on the blog to help you support your child at home.

We’re also excited to let you know that the links for the Behaviour Bookclub are now available! The sessions, hosted by Charlotte Clarke from When The Adults Change, take place online at 8:00pm on the last Thursday of each month. Each one-hour session is open to all families.
