How can we design a safe, welcoming space for a Holi‑inspired celebration in the school grounds or hall?

Holi involves different activities: colour play, music and dance, food, story or prayer.

 

1. Colour Play Zone

 Create a colour‑throwing zone that is a rectangle measuring 6m by 4m.

  • a) What is the area?
  • b) What is the perimeter?

2. Music & Dance Zone 

The music area needs to be larger. You choose a rectangle with a perimeter of 26m.
One side is 7m long.

3. Story/Quiet Zone
You design a quiet rectangle for storytelling.
It has an area of 20m², and one side is 4m.
  • a) What is the other side?

The food stall area is a compound shape made from two rectangles:
  • Rectangle A: 5m by 4m
  • Rectangle B: 3m by 4m (attached along the 4m side)

You want the colour playmusic, and dance zones to have equal areas so all groups are valued equally.
The total celebration area available is 84m².
