Mr Lliwgar is back exploring the Gower, and he needs the children’s help to begin his new adventure. With the Pod teachers, the class will start by thinking about what they already know about one of the Wonders of Gower. Have they visited it? Seen it on a walk? Heard a story? This activity helps the children connect their own experiences to our new learning journey as we begin discovering the incredible landmarks around us.
LO. Recall and communicate what they already know about people, places or events to explore new ideas.
Mr Lliwgar has returned with a challenge for Pysgodyn Class: can they help him locate all six Gower Wonders on a map? With Mrs Beck, the children will become real map explorers, using coordinates, symbols and simple directions to find each landmark. From matching pictures to following clues, the children will discover how maps help us understand where things are and how places connect.
LO. Locate familiar places on a map and follow simple directions (left, right, near, far).
LO. Use coordinates, symbols and directional language to locate places and describe spatial relationships.
As Mr Lliwgar continues his adventures across the Gower, he’s been wondering what these famous landmarks might look like from above. With Miss Jones, the children will imagine they are soaring high in the sky and sketching a bird’s‑eye view of their chosen wonder. What shapes, features and surroundings would they notice from up high? This creative task helps the children think about place, perspective and how landscapes change depending on where we view them from.
LO. Describe simple features of places and represent them using drawings or models.
LO. Represent places from different viewpoints and explain how perspective changes what can be seen.

LO. Communicate key facts using words and images, selecting information about people, places or events.
LO. Organise information clearly for a specific purpose and audience, using layout features and topic vocabulary.
After exploring the Gower, Mr Lliwgar thinks it’s time for a real adventure — a class trip! But he needs help convincing Mrs Caswell. This activity encourages children to use evidence, reasoning and persuasive language to make a strong case for their chosen destination.
LO. Write for a purpose, expressing opinions and giving simple reasons supported by information.
LO. Use persuasive techniques, evidence and structured arguments to influence the views of others.
