This week, we will rotate around different literacy challenges to show what we can do as readers, writers and word detectives.

Can you crack animal codes, uncover clues in a text and choose an animal to inspire your writing?

🔐 Crack the Animal Code

LO: To be able to segment and blend words using grapheme-phoneme correspondence.

Activity: Use the code key to crack the mystery animal words. Decode the sounds, blend them together and write the animal word.

🐼 Red Panda Reading Investigation

LO: To identify information from a text accurately and sort into categories and headings.

Activity: Read the red panda information text. Find the information you need and draw and write about where it lives, what it eats, where it rests or hides and what helps it keep safe.

✏️ Animal-Inspired Writing

LO: To compose single and multi-clause sentences, making choices to meet the intended audience and purpose.

Activity: Choose an animal image. Tell us everything you already know about that animal. Use words and sentences to describe what it looks like and share any facts you know.
