As we bring another full and fulfilling week to a close, it’s a pleasure to pause and celebrate the enthusiasm, collaboration, and creativity that have been shining throughout our school.

Last Friday was truly a highlight. With glorious sunshine on our side, our pupils rolled up their sleeves and set to work planting their prize‑winning garden patches. These once‑bare spaces are now brimming with promise, ready to undergo an exciting transformation in the weeks and months ahead.

What hidden horticultural treasures will soon push through the soil? What bold ideas and imaginative designs have our pods brought to life? And, perhaps most exciting of all, how will our very own Gardeners’ World judge respond when judging day arrives?

We can’t wait to watch these gardens flourish — not just with plants, but with creativity, teamwork, perseverance, and pride. Moments like these remind us how powerful learning can be when it’s hands‑on, meaningful, and rooted in shared experience. Thank you to everyone who helped make this such a joyful and memorable end to the week. We look forward to sharing the next stages of this growing journey with you.

🎸 Rocksteady Band Lessons Coming Soon!

We’re excited to announce that Rocksteady Music School will be coming to Llanrhidian Primary School to deliver fun, inclusive band lessons for our pupils.

🗓️ Launch Day – Monday 11th May

Rocksteady will visit school for a whole‑school launch day, including assemblies and workshops. Enrolment letters will be sent home so families can decide if they would like to take part.

🎶 Weekly Lessons

• Start date: Thursday 21st May
• Day & time: Thursdays, 1:00–3:00pm

Children learn to play real instruments in small bands. No previous musical experience is needed.

💷 Enrolment details

• £44.68 per month
• Enrolment and payment are directly with Rocksteady
• Rolling monthly model with no long‑term commitment
• First month is refundable
• No minimum number of pupils required

We’re looking forward to welcoming Rocksteady and giving our children the chance to build confidence, teamwork and a love of music.

🧠 Emotional Regulation Parent Workshop – All Families Welcome

Thank you to everyone who showed interest in our School In‑Reach Parent Workshops.

We’re pleased to confirm that we have now booked an Emotional Regulation Parent Workshop, which will be open to all families. We would really value your support and encourage as many parents and carers as possible to attend.

📅 Date: Tuesday 2nd June
⏰ Time: 3:40–4:40pm

The session will be led by Luke from CAMHS, who will share practical, easy‑to‑use strategies to support children’s emotional wellbeing at home and in school.

☕ Tea and coffee will be provided, and
👧🧒 childcare will be available for pupils if needed.

Starting Friday 5th June

We’re excited to be launching our Health & Wellbeing Extravaganza starting on Friday 5th June 🎉. Led by Aaron Ring, this six‑week project will see pupils and parents cooking together outdoors around the firepit 🔥🍲 while learning all about healthy food and nutrition 🥕🍎.

🏆 Ready, Steady, STEM! A Family Tea Time Challenge

Our school has been awarded Community Flagship School status for Swansea 🏆and to celebrate, we’re launching a brand‑new project all about family learning, teamwork and STEM (no screens required!).

You’re invited to our Tea Time STEM Event ☕🔧
A fun, hands‑on evening where parents and children work together to tackle a mystery STEM challenge. Expect problem‑solving, creativity, teamwork… and a competitive twist (yes, there will be judges 👀).

What to expect:

• Work alongside your child on an exciting practical challenge
• Families with more than one child can team up in the oldest child’s pod
• Refreshments provided and a chance to share your ideas at the end
