Cynefin: Cynefin is a Welsh word that cannot be directly translated into English but means a place of multiple belongings.  To ensure our pupils develop Cynefin we will be celebrating our locality and the people who have made this their home. This term, we are going to be celebrating what makes us us! We will be exploring our identities, our stories, and the special connections that help shape who we are as individuals and as a community. Together, we will look closely at our local heritage, discovering the traditions, landmarks and histories that make the Gower such a unique and inspiring place to live. From the coastline to the farming landscapes, from old tales to modern communities, we’ll investigate how the past has helped to create the Gower we know today.

But our learning won’t stop there. We will also be finding out about the countries, cultures and people who have influenced the Gower over time, helping to make it the diverse and welcoming place it is. Through stories, maps, artefacts and real-life examples, we will explore how different groups of people have travelled, settled, worked and shared their traditions here, adding richness and variety to our local area.

We believe that developing a love of literature is the first step to becoming a competent reader.  Here are a few of the books we will be enjoying with our pupils:

The Story Machine by Tom Mclaughlin

Coming to England by Floella Benjamin

The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Rauf

    Coming Home by Michael Morpurgo
