  • Design Thinking- Mr Colourful

LO: To develop an understanding of the needs and wants of the user
LO: To apply my knowledge and skills when making design decisions in order to produce specific outcomes.

    What do I already know?

    • What does Mr Colourful need?

    • What do I know to meet the needs of Mr Colourful?

    • What helped your car roll smoothly?

    • What made your chassis strong or wobbly?

    • What types of joins have you explored?

    • Which joins are right for your design?

Using all the information you have gathered over the past two weeks, discuss the most important aspects and why these are crucial for your car design.

What do I need to know?

    • How do I make a complete electrical system?

    • How does a switch control power?

    • Where should the motor go so it can turn the wheels?

    • How to make my chassis strong enough to hold my electrical.

    Let's Explore!

Using your knowledge of circuits, draw the circuit you will need for your car to work.

Rememember to use the correct symbols!

Now I wonder what makes a strong structure. Remember your car may need to to hold a lot of items, such as electrical components and also Mr Colourful’s souvenirs.

Now you have a little more understanding. In groups, choose one car chassis to make structurally stronger.

Now we should have all the knowledge and skills to start to design our car, but first lets create some success criteria.

LO: To combine component parts, materials and processes to achieve functionality and improve the effectiveness of outcomes.
LO:To use prototyping as a link between designing and making.
