Annwyl Parents and Carers,

 

What a joy it is to have a normal week in Llanrhidian! As I walk around our busy school, I can’t help but feel proud of our amazing little country school. The atmosphere is vibrant, and our pupils are full of excitement for learning. From outdoor painting to working with micro bits, to up-levelling their written work  - all the children are engaged and making progress.

 

Our pod system is a fantastic way to support learning. It allows pupils to work and play alongside a variety of classmates, helping them develop essential communication and social skills that will benefit them throughout their lives. This collaborative approach is one of the great strengths of our school, and I want to thank you, parents, for recognising how valuable it is.

 

This term is packed with activities, so be sure to check out the links below for all the latest information. We are particularly excited about our St David's Day celebrations on March 3rd, right after half term. In the morning there will be a range of competitions for the learners to enter, and trophies for the winners.   We hope you can join us at 2pm for a wonderful community celebration for a Marchnad Dydd Gwyl Dewi. Our lovely Caffi Cyefin will also be open, serving hot drinks and delicious Welsh cakes. This year, we are also trying a Welsh raffle and tombola for some added fun!  

 

On the last day of half term, February 21st, we will hold a "Wear the Welsh Colours Day" to raise prizes for the tombola and raffle.   Our pupils will also be running stalls to raise funds for their pods. 

 

Thank you once again for your continued support. The community spirit in Llanrhidian is truly amazing, and the staff and I appreciate everything you do for us.

Mr G's Online Safety Tip: "Find the Balance!" Have you ever considered how much time you spend looking at a screen—whether it's a smartphone, tablet, laptop, PC monitor, handheld game, or TV screen? Have you reflected on your overall behaviour regarding technology use? For instance, do you take your mobile phone to bed and scroll through social media posts before you close your eyes?  It's important to remember that children and young people are highly influenced by the behaviours of their parents and caregivers. Therefore, it's crucial for parents and caregivers to set a good example by demonstrating appropriate and balanced technology use.

What's the buzz from the pupils this week? What do you love most about your pod?

 

Pod Pengwin: I love playing with friends. My teachers make us laugh. 

Pod Pysgodyn: Mr G and Mr D always puts songs on that we like. Our teachers make it fun. My friends always look after me.

Pod Pry Cop: I love how we always move around and how the teachers always make us laugh. Mr Lisk is the funniest but Mrs Archard wants to be!
