How to Help Your Child at Home

Supporting your child with their learning at home can make a big difference to their progress and confidence. Here you will find a range of resources to help, but don’t forget you can also visit the Pod – Flip Bits section to follow what we have done in school that week or term.

Here are a few simple ways you can help:

  • Read together regularly – even a few minutes a day helps build fluency and understanding.

  • Play 10 games on TTRS (Times Tables Rock Stars) each week to practise.

  • Talk about their learning – ask them what they enjoyed, found tricky, or are proud of.

  • Practise the TTRS sheets that come home to reinforce.

  • Use the maths chillis – we are reintroducing these this term. You can also go through any mistakes together to help strengthen understanding.

  • Your child may wish to create something for their Choice and Challenge showcase. Please discuss ideas with them. This could be a piece of writing, a craft project, an interview with someone connected to their topic.

Resources You Can Access in This Section

To further support learning at home, you will also find:

  • White Rose – numeracy resources that match the methods used in class.

  • Speed Words – to support reading fluency through regular practice.

  • Spelling Resources – examples of words linked to spelling rules.
