Our Topic This Term Is...

Have you ever ventured outdoors, breathed in the fresh air, and felt invigorated by the beauty of our natural world? Through 'Captenau Gwyr,' we celebrate the joys of exploring nature while enhancing our health and well-being. Picture yourself attending a vibrant festival, where laughter mingles with music and the aroma of delicious local food wafts through the air. You’ll not only have the chance to make lifelong memories with friends and family but also discover the incredible diversity of wildlife and plant life around us.

One of the key features of this topic is the exciting challenge of tackling 'The Duke of Llanrhidian'. Whether you’re scaling rocky pathways or wandering through lush greenery or cooking up a storm, every step brings you closer to a deeper understanding of the environment while promoting a healthy lifestyle.

By embracing outdoor activities like hiking, participating in community events, and learning about our ecosystems, we cultivate a sense of connection to our surroundings and foster a spirit of adventure. Delving into the adventures that await through 'Captenau Gwyr' not only enriches our lives but also nurtures our minds and bodies, ultimately leading to a more fulfilled, balanced life. So, what adventures await on this remarkable journey? Come join us and find out!

Cynefin: Cynefin is a Welsh word that cannot be directly translated into English but means a place of multiple belongings. This term we are focusing on making sure our Caffi Cynefin is a fair place for all to visit.

Rip-Roaring Reads: We believe that developing a love of literature is the first step to becoming a competent reader.  Here are the books we will be enjoying with our pupils:

- Once I was a Tree

- The Lost Words

- Tily and The Map of Stories

If you know of any other great books, stories or poems that will support our topic, please let us know.

Big Questions: Teachers will use Big Questions to explore Religion, Values and Ethics related to the topic.

The following diagram is an example of some of the learning we are planning this term.  This is drawn from your child’s ideas from the launch day and their EPIC planning (Everybody Planning In Class). As the topic unfolds and the children delve deeper, their ideas and interests may spark new, exciting changes, therefore some planning may change as we progress through the topic!

Please note that although we plan under each Area of Learning and Experience, we endeavour to make as many cross curricular links as possible.
