Introduction by Marion Jenkins (Chair of Governors)
As part of our commitment to open communication, I wish to take this opportunity to inform you about the pivotal role of our Governing Body, which is composed entirely of dedicated volunteers from our community. Their unwavering support is fundamental to our shared mission at Llanrhidian Primary School.
Our mission, “Learn, Grow, Succeed Together!” encapsulates our aspiration for every child to thrive in an environment that fosters collaboration and inclusivity. Central to our operational ethos is the recognition of Children’s Rights, as delineated by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This framework informs our decision-making processes and reinforces our commitment to inspire all learners to achieve their fullest potential.
The Governors play an essential role in ensuring continuous improvement and development within our school. Their responsibilities encompass three vital areas:
- Setting a clear direction and strategic plan for the school’s objectives, articulated through our School Development Plan.
- Monitoring the Head Teacher to ensure that all children are progressing adequately in their learning.
- Overseeing financial stewardship to guarantee that our resources are utilised efficiently and effectively.
Moreover, we recognise the importance of ongoing development within our Governing Body. To facilitate this, we establish specific goals and integrate them with the School Development Plan, ensuring that our governance evolves alongside our educational aspirations.
With the introduction of the new Curriculum for Wales, our Governors are tasked with supporting the Head Teacher and her team in designing a curriculum that will empower all children to become Ambitious, Capable Learners, Ethical, Informed Citizens, Enterprising, Creative Contributors, and Healthy, Confident Individuals. It has been a privilege to witness how Llanrhidian School has been at the forefront of curriculum development as a pioneer school in recent years. The Governors will continue to play a crucial role in steering this progress.
