Shwmae Pysgodyns and croeso i 2025!

Have you ever heard the words "fayre," "fair," and "fare"? They sound the same, but they mean different things—and learning about them can be lots of fun!

fayre is like a big, fun festival with games, rides, and yummy treats. It’s a place to have a great time with your friends and family!

fair is about being kind and treating everyone equally. It reminds us to celebrate our amazing world where people have different ideas, cultures, and dreams.

fare is the money you pay to travel, like buying a ticket for a bus or train. Learning about fares can help you understand how money works and how people travel around the world.

Exploring these words can teach you about fun, fairness, and how to be smart with money—skills that will help you in the future!

Are you ready to dive into the exciting world of fayres, learn how to be fair, and maybe even spend your hard-earned pocket money on a bus fare? Let’s get started on this fantastic journey together!

Cynefin:
Cynefin is a special Welsh word that means a sense of belonging to many places. To help our pupils feel connected to their Cynefin, we’ll be exploring the wonderful Welsh outdoors. We’ll also be helping local Gower farmers and working together to create our very own Llanrhidian Fairtrade Fayre!

We know how amazing our Pysgodyns are at looking after the environment, so we’ll also be taking part in the Big School Birdwatch this January to help our feathered friends in the skies.

Rip-Roaring Reads:
We believe that a love of reading is the key to becoming a confident learner. This term, we’ll enjoy these fantastic books:

Paddington at the Fair by Michael Bond
Fun at the Fair by Enid Blyton
Fair Shares by Pippa Goodhart
Luna Loves Art by Joseph Coelho
The Squirrels Who Squabbled by Rachel Bright
Do you know any other great books, stories, or poems that fit our topic? Let us know—we’d love to hear your ideas!

Our Learning Plan:
The next few pages show some of the exciting learning activities we’ve planned this term, inspired by your child’s brilliant ideas from our launch day.

Although we’ve planned activities under each Area of Learning and Experience, we’ll make lots of cross-curricular links. As the topic unfolds, your children’s interests and ideas might lead to new adventures, so some plans may change as we go along.

Let’s make it a term to remember!
