Your child is now on Reading Band Brown Bear.  Thank you for encouraging your child to read.  

Targets 

• read and search longer texts for detailed information looking at language, structure and presentation 

• use the context of the story to work out meanings of unfamiliar words and discuss understanding 

• summarise the ideas from more than one paragraph 

• to find specific information from non-fiction texts 

• read and perform plays and poems 

Always 

• ask, ‘What makes you think/feel…?’ 

• encourage them to ask questions as they read the text
