I.Q.

L.O: To make decisions, considering the available information and the possible consequences.

Our delightful Caffi Cynefin has been serving up scrumptious treats for three whole years! But here's the burning question: is this marvellous spot a fair space for everyone? Do our gluten-free pals find joy, and can everyone access it? Let’s dive into what it truly means to be welcoming—because a happy Caffi makes for even happier customers! In order to keep the Caffi successful, we must reflect on what is going well and what we can do better.

I wonder, is Caffi Cynefin fair and how can we improve?

Activate your prior knowledge!

What do you think fairness means? Beth wyt ti'n meddwl?

How well do we know Llanrhidian? What does this show us?

1. What does our customer feedback tell us?

Read the feedback and decide in your group which is the most important piece of feedback to help us improve. This goes at the top. How do we know if we have been successful in this task?

Then order the rest just like in the picture below:

Use the following sentence starters to explain;

I think _______ is the most important because ______.

To me _______ is the least important because ________.

Three things I gave equal importance are _______, ______ and _______. This is because ___________.

3. Is our menu fair?

There is a database in your J2e 'shared files'. Called 'Caffi Cynefin'. Use this information to answer the following questions:

Look at the database. List all the allergies and food preferences that have been reported. How many people have an allergy to gluten?

Look at the database. Create a graph showing all the different allergies that customers have reported. How many different allergies or food tolerances have been reported?

Look at the database. How many different graphs can you create that tell us information about our customers?

Now we have seen this data, what should we do to our menu to ensure that it is fair for all of our customers?

What is a food mile?

What are the effects of food miles?

What are the effects and what can we do?

5b. How much carbon do we 'spend' by running the caffi?

The computer is on in the hall from approximately 08:30 - 11:30am. How much carbon does that use?

If the lights and the computer are both on from 08:30 to 11:30am, how much carbon does that use?

The lights and the computer are on for 3 hours per caffi. The autumn term was 10 weeks. How much carbon did we use for the autumn term on the computer and lights?

The lights and computer are on for 3 hours each week in the caffi. Mrs Blackmore usually uses the toaster 8 times. How much carbon was used on these 3 things in a 14 week autumn term?

On average, the caffi has the lights and the computer on for 3 hours. Usually, Mrs Blackmore uses the toaster 8 times. How much carbon is spent over a 16 week term? Look at the graph below, what circumference of tree would need to be grown to counterbalance this carbon expenditure?

5c. Outdoor Learning Activity; Available on Wednesday only!!

Trees take in carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and store it as carbon in their trunk, roots and leaves. Approximately half of the dry weight of a tree is carbon. This means that trees are a carbon store and can help us to reduce the effects of climate change.

5. Design a logo for the caffi that shows we consider fairness for our customers and our planet!

Using all the information above, evaluate Caffi Cynefin. What reasonable changes could we make to ensure it is a fair space for our customers and our planet?
