Medi 2025.

The Pengwins are really enjoying Y Goedwig and have had an exciting time learning about autumn and especially conkers.

 

'My mummy came and had marshmallows in Y Goedwig'.

'I liked using the drill to make a hole in conkers.'

'We found Spot in our tree, hes a cave baby and we made him soup' 

' I like climbing trees' 

We have lots of new number resources in our class. Pupils could name Numicon.

' I counted millions of apples, actually 10'

We discussed our Siarter y pod and what we need to do to be Respectful, Ready and Safe.

Spring term in Pod Pengwin

Update on our targets from Autumn Term

Literacy Target from Autumn Term so far: Practising our letters and creating a story. 

'I have designed my own character. I even dressed up as her. This helped me to make my writing better.'

Numeracy Target from Autumn Term so far: To continue to practise writing our numbers and have a go at making number sentences.

'We have a new number time where we practise our numbers on the chalkboard.'

Our Year 1 Pengwins gave some Pry Cop children a tour of our workshop and explained to them all the learning we have been doing. 

'What is Choice and Challenge?'

'I like Choice and Challenge, it is where we plan what we want to do and then we can go and do it with our friends.'

'I really like showing my work on the Choice and Challenge board, Mrs Rees lets us stick up our own work and today Miss Walters asked us to make some more fayre tickets to add to our display.'

'Can you show us your writing on this display?'

'We had to use 'WOW' words when writing about bonfire night.'

'We like helping Tedi Twt, here we had to draw and write about what food he would like at our Christmas party.'

'Can you show us where you have used numbers?'

''We tried different food (for Diwali) and had to vote for our favourite.' 

'I was really good at answering the questions.'

'What are you excited to learn about this term?'

'We have a new Choice and Challenge area - Ty Celf and I can't wait to make things in there.'

Literacy in Pod Pengwin

Mrs Marchant and Miss Walters love reading, do you enjoy reading too?

'We like reading with our friends and teachers. We read at home to our mummy, nanny and daddy.'

What can we do more of in Pengwinland?

'We would like to make our own stories and read them.'

We would like to write a poem about things that Fizz, Flow and Freeze!

Miss Walters finds 'here we go' letters really tricky, do you find them tricky too?

'Now that we are year 1 Pengwins we get to squiggle and practise our here we go letters. Sometimes our here we go 'd' is really tricky.'

Numeracy in Pod Pengwin

Mrs Marchant has been practising her number bonds, do you like counting too?

We practise our numbers a lot. I am really good at counting up to the number 100. 

We have number activities on our table. 

What can we do more of in Pengwinland?

We need more practise writing numbers the correct way.
