I wonder, what is cubism and who is Pablo Picasso?
Beth wyt ti'n meddwl?
Let's have a look at some of his work around the room!
How does that connect to Fayre, Fair, Fare?
Picasso was an artist who liked to paint faces in a way that was different from what we usually see. Most of the time, when people draw faces, they try to make them look "fair" by making them neat and symmetrical (like both sides looking the same). But Picasso didn't do that. He would paint faces with parts broken up or changed in strange ways, like making eyes, noses, and mouths look different from each other.
By doing this, Picasso made us think: Is "fairness" about making everything look the same, or can fairness mean showing things in many different ways? He wanted to show that there isn’t just one way to be fair or beautiful—there are many ways to see things, and that's okay!
We've covered symmetry in maths and explored colour and one point perspective in art - now lets put them together but push the boundaries!! Eventually we will be turning these into cardboard sculptures like the one below but first let's create a 2D version!
