How to chat to your child's teacher.

If you need to get in touch with your child's teacher at Llanrhidian, we're here to help! We want to make sure that our school is a welcoming and friendly place for everyone, and we have an 'Open Door Policy' to make it easier for parents to talk to us.

  • Casual Chats: Our staff are around every morning from 8.45 to 8.55. You're welcome to have a quick chat or ask any questions during this time. While staff are usually available at the end of the day, they may need to wait until all the children have been safely dismissed before they can speak with you.  Please understand that sometimes they have to attend meetings or other activities so cannot spend too long chatting.
  • Getting Information: Even though we try to keep you informed, if you ever have any questions or feedback, you can reach us by email. We will get back to you as soon as we possibly can.
  • Private Talks: If you need to have a private chat with a staff member, just ask for an appointment. We'll do our best to arrange a meeting as soon as possible. Depending on the nature of the meeting, we might suggest having a neutral third party present to take notes. If the conversation isn't going well or becomes disrespectful, anyone involved can end it. We can then bring the matter to the Headteacher for further help.
  • Concerns & Complaints: If you've tried to resolve an issue and it's still bothering you, you can go straight to the headteacher. If you are still not satisfied, you can contact the governing body. You can find out more about our complaints process in our policy, available online or from the school office.
  • Dealing with Behaviour: We understand that parents naturally want to support their child. However, it's important to consider both sides of a situation. At our school, we believe in using a 'no-blame approach' when investigating incidents. We aim to find solutions that help everyone while staying fair and impartial. You can learn more in our Positive Relationships Policy.
