🐜 Dex the Ant Builds an Array Garden 🌼
Featuring Pop the Ladybug, Ol the Beetle, and Bel the Bee
In the buzzing little town of Bugville, lived a clever ant named Dex. Dex loved building things neatly—especially in rows and columns!
One sunny morning, Dex scurried out of his tiny house on The Mound, stretched his legs, and said:
🎵 “Today I’ll plant a garden grand,
With arrays across the land!” 🎵
Dex had a big plan: to plant flowers all around Bugville in his three favorite spots—The Wild Area, Conkerland, and right at home on The Mound.
🌼 First Stop: The Wild Area
Dex marched to The Wild Area, a bumpy patch full of short grass, wildflowers, and beetle tracks. The sunlight twinkled through the trees and the air smelled sweet.
“I’ll plant 3 rows of 4 daisies here,” he said, poking neat holes in the soft earth.
Just then, Pop the Ladybug fluttered down.
“Ooooh, what’s all this?” she asked, curious.
“It’s an array!” Dex beamed. “3 rows of 4 flowers. That makes 3 × 4 = 12 daisies.”
Pop twirled in the air. “That’s so tidy! I can count them without getting dizzy!”
🌷 Next Stop: Conkerland
Conkerland was shady and cool, with short grass, scattered twigs, and conker shells lying between little trees. It was a quiet, cozy patch sectioned off with pebbles and sticks for safekeeping.
Dex tiptoed between the conkers and said,
“Here, I’ll plant 5 rows of 2 tulips.”
As he worked, Ol the Beetle crawled by munching a leaf.
“Hey Dex, why rows again?”
Dex grinned. “Because arrays help me plant neatly—and 5 × 2 = 10 tulips makes counting easy!”
Ol nodded. “Looks like a tulip parade!”
🌻 Final Stop: The Mound
Back at The Mound, where Dex lived, he wanted something extra special.
“I’ll go BIG here!” Dex declared. “Let’s do 4 rows of 5 sunflowers.”
Just then, Bel the Bee buzzed over.
“Buzz-tastic sunflowers! That’s 4 × 5 = 20!”
Dex smiled. “Exactly! They’ll bloom just in time for the Summer Festival!”
🎉 Festival Day!
All the bugs gathered in Bugville to see Dex’s amazing array garden.
🌼 Pop danced through the daisies in The Wild Area.
🌷 Ol played hide-and-seek between the tulips in Conkerland.
🌻 Bel zipped and zoomed through the tall sunflowers on The Mound.
Everyone cheered:
🎵 “Arrays help flowers grow in style,
In rows and columns, mile by mile!” 🎵
From that day on, whenever someone asked how to plant or build in Bugville, Dex would proudly say:
“Let’s do it the array way!”
❓ Your Turn!
Dex has saved one last patch of garden just for you.
He says:
"I need help planting the next array—can you design one?"
🔹 Choose a flower.
🔹 Decide how many rows and how many in each row.
🔹 Then draw it or write the multiplication sentence to match!
🌼 How many flowers will you plant in your array garden?
🌱 What will it look like?
Let your imagination grow—just like Dex’s garden!
The end!
Y diwedd!
