Education Improvement Grant

Education Improvement Grant or RCSIG - Regional Consortia Support Improvement Grant 2022-23

This  plan focuses on raising standards for all, reducing the attainment gap, and delivering an education system that is a source of pride and public confidence, which are our overarching aspirations for education in Wales.

 

Actions:

  • Foundation Phase support staff classroom and intervention structure

  • Classroom based intervention and focused groups sessions

  • Provision of ongoing assessment strategies to monitor progress of all pupils

  • Provision of effective literacy strategies such as  read write inc, handwriting, write dance, squiggle as you wiggle, Nessy and Speech Link.

  • Provision of effective Numeracy strategies such as numicon, focused groups, reasoning and choice and challenge tasks.

  • Encouraging independence, creativity and self directed learning, through the foundation phase philosophy and our  approach to planning, allowing all pupils to have a voice.

  • Enabling pupils to use ICT/DCF skills effectively across the curriculum and areas of learning.

  • Providing rich practical learning opportunities both inside and in the outdoors as appropriate.

  • Teaching assistants deployed effectively to support all learners.

 

Success Criteria

  • Improved provision and attainment for learners in Pod Pili-Pala, Pod Pengwin and Pod Pysgodyn through developing integral skills to realise the four purposes.

  • Maintain good staffing ratios to provide optimum levels of support for pupils

  • Provide and deliver effective learning through play and group learning activities.

  • Improved standards in Literacy, Numeracy, Wellbeing & Creative Development across the lower pods.

  • Increased pupil voice within the planning process resulting in improved pupil independence and self directed learning.

  • Increased rich learning opportunities provided in both the indoors and outdoors.

  • Teaching assistants deployed effectively impacting on learning progress.

 

Grant Funding

EIG Funding = £62,539

Expenditure of £90,129 for 114 hours of TA support April to August and 141 hours of TA support September to March (Subsidised by school)

The entirety of this grant has been used to support pupil progress and well-being.  Adequate staffing has ensured that individual pupils receive the support and attention needed to thrive within their school learning environment as well as through blended learning.
