Our Topic This Term is...
Fayre, Fair, Fare!!
Have you ever heard the words "fayre," "fair," and "fare"? They may sound the same, but they mean different things, and learning about them is exciting! A fayre is like a fun festival with games, rides, and yummy treats—it’s a place to laugh and enjoy with friends and family. A fair is about fairness, like treating everyone kindly and equally. It reminds us to celebrate our amazing, diverse world where people have different ideas, cultures, and dreams. Finally, a fare is what you pay for a journey, like buying a bus or train ticket. Learning about fares can help you understand how money works and how people travel around the world. By exploring these words, you’ll discover fun, kindness, and smart ways to handle money—all important skills for an awesome future!
Cynefin: Cynefin is a Welsh word that cannot be directly translated into English but means a place of multiple belongings. This term we are focusing on making sure our Caffi Cynefin is a fair place for all to visit.
Rip-Roaring Reads: We believe that developing a love of literature is the first step to becoming a competent reader. Here are the books we will be enjoying with our pupils:
- Fairground: Maker Models
- Nelson's Funfair Holiday
- How to code a rollercoaster
If you know of any other great books, stories or poems that will support our topic, please let us know.
Big Questions: Teachers will use Big Questions to explore Religion, Values and Ethics related to the topic.
The following slides are an example of some of the learning we are planning this term. This is drawn from your child’s ideas from the launch day and their EPIC planning (Everybody Planning In Class). As the topic unfolds and the children delve deeper, their ideas and interests may spark new, exciting changes, therefore some planning may change as we progress through the topic!
Please note that although we plan under each Area of Learning and Experience, we endeavour to make as many cross curricular links as possible.
