Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy new year to you all.  It is wonderful to have all the pupils back and ready to learn through our new topic  "Think, Wonder, Dream" and as usual you will receive a Pod Project Overview at the end of next week once we have considered all the pupils' ideas for the topic.

We had a brilliant end of term and we thank you all for the amazing support for the shows, the raffle, and the Christmas Fayre.  It has been a while since we have had such community events, and I am sure these will go from strength to strength.

This week we held our first Caffi Cynefin in the school hall, and the pupils were, once again, amazing.  We are committed to this "warm hub" for our community and we are now advertised on the Swansea website. If you are able to bring any elderly people along please do.  Our pupils are eager to make a real difference to our community.  This, however, is also about giving our pupils real life experiences, developing their confidence and giving them a taste of the world of work.  Huge thank you to all the parents and staff who make this happen!

As it is a fresh new year, we are asking you to please consider your child's attendance.  This was printed on your written report last term, and we really hope that you will work with us to improve this as needed.  Every hour counts in school, so please ensure your child attends unless unwell.  We no longer need pupils to be kept home for coughs and colds, as we will just remind them about hygiene and washing their hands.  Please refrain from taking holidays during term time as we are now advised to return to previous attendance polices when authorising any absence.  Our Education Welfare Officer is now attending school regularly to check the registers, and will contact families to offer support where attendance is low.  Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are having difficulty getting your child to school so we can work together.

Parent Evening - We look forward to inviting you to a formal parent evening this term where you can come and speak to a pod member about your child's progress.  We will be sending out an electronic booking link once we have confirmed the date.

Water Bottles - Please can you remind your children to bring in their water bottles each day.  If you wish to purchase a school water bottle, please send in £3.00 in a marked envelope to the school office.  Pupils who forget their water bottles are missing learning time as they are asking for cups.

Clwb Hwyl (Year 1 to Year 6) - We have once again asked the pupils what they would like as their pod clubs, and are resuming these each Wednesday after school until 4.15.  We are sorry we do not have the staffing levels to offer this to Reception pupils at this time.

Amser Tost - Please send your £10 into the school for the term, or pay via Squid.

Well-Being Workshops for Parents - Jan 25th (When to worry about your worrier - REPEAT)  and March 15th (Emotional Regulation) @ 3.30 in School Hall  - Amy Glass the in-reach CAHMS worker will be hosting a parent workshop on these dates. Your child can attend sports club.   Please let the office know if you want to book a place.

Parking on zig zags The police have received reports of parents and guardians parking on the yellow zig zags outside our school.  Please remember these mark a safe "no car" zone for pupils and their siblings, so please let's work together on this.

Have a fabulous weekend

Mrs Caswell
