Annwyl Parents and Carers,
Our Whole School Attendance is
96.6% - Let's keep it up!!
Swansea Target 95%
Llanrhidian Target 96%
We have been so close to reaching the Swansea attendance target last year. Let's rally together and strive to hit it in 2025!
What a brilliant start we’ve had in our first couple of weeks diving into the adventure of 'Fizz, Flow, Freeze'! All the Pods have been bustling with excitement as they ventured through our lovely local area alongside Helen from 'Gower Unearthed' and Dawn from 'Nature Days'. We were over the moon to secure a grant from The Gower Society, which has been a tremendous boost for our launch day experience! This support has allowed us to build a curriculum that’s not only educational but also tailor-made for Llanrhidian.
We've received lovely feedback, praising our pupils for their engagement and politeness—da iawn pawb! Our vision is to empower our pupils to cultivate lifelong skills while fostering a genuine connection to their vibrant local community.
A reminder to please make sure you've filled out the latest admission form for your children so they have the green light to join us. (We are asking all families to do this, thank you to those who have already completed it.) This pack also includes sections where you can give consent for your child to appear on Instagram and the school website. Your prompt completion of this is appreciated! Click here if you have not yet completed.
We have a very exciting and busy term ahead, we will be adding dates as the term moves along so please keep checking our 'Dates at a Glance' section to keep your diary up to date! (Christmas show dates added below)
Here are some headlines this week:
Pod Open Evening Monday 14th October: We warmly invite all parents and carers to our annual pod open evening. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to explore the exciting learning experiences at Llanrhidian. You can chat with the teachers, view your child's books and digital projects, and even ask any questions you may have. Our pod open evening has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to our formal parent evening (held in the Spring Term), and we genuinely encourage you to come along and let your child guide you through their school experience. No booking is required - simply drop in anytime between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm. Please do bear in mind that due to the nature of the event, teachers won't be able to engage in private discussions about individual pupils.
Monster Ball: Wednesday 23rd October (No Clwb Hwyl) @4.30 til 6: There will be a disco in the marquee (run by Mr G); refreshments; fancy dress (pupils and adults) and lots of fun! Please let us know if you can help decorate the marquee! (Our volunteers last year were amazing!) If you can support the event with donations of cakes or treats to sell, we would be most grateful. Weather permitting - this will be an outside event. If you want to volunteer to run a refreshment stall or decorate the marquee, please get in touch.
What's the buzz from the pupils this week? "Cwestiwn yr Wythnos!" We ask pupils a weekly question in order to feed into our school improvement. "What are you looking forward to this term"?
Pod Pengwin: I am excited about being a Pry Cop but I'm with the Pengwin's first. I like going outside on the bikes, I like learning stuff for when I'm going to be an adult.
Pod Pysgodyn: I am looking forward to making a new friend because I am in a new pod. I am also looking forward to having fun and learning more.
Pod PryCop: I am looking forward to doing more science experiments linking to ice - I'm excited to do everything!!
Mr G's Internet Safety Tip of the Week: Start the conversation- As parents and caregivers, one of the most important responsibilities we have is to stay informed about our children's online activities and guide them in making safe and responsible choices. The digital world is vast and full of opportunities, but it can also present challenges that children may not be equipped to navigate on their own. By being engaged and aware of their online behaviour, we can better understand the decisions they're making and the potential risks they might face. Please click here for more information.
