We’re thrilled to keep you updated on our plans for the pupil kitchen, which is set to become an incredible resource for our school community! While we’re currently awaiting the local authority to finalise their surveys, it’s all part of the exciting process that will pave the way for our planning to begin in earnest. Although the wait may feel a bit prolonged, we are staying optimistic and will ensure that you’re kept in the loop every step of the way!

Raising funds for our school is absolutely essential as budgets continue to tighten each year. That’s why we are thrilled to announce the establishment of the Llanrhidian Primary Success Trust, which opens up fantastic opportunities for us to apply for various grants and support. We’re also excited to have joined Abertawe Lotto, where every ticket purchased contributes 50p directly to our school. More information on this initiative will be shared shortly, so stay tuned! (Or just search  click on Lottoabertawe.co.uk and choose our school!)

In addition to these efforts, we have a fantastic line up of fun fundraising events in the pipeline! Our primary aim is to bring our community together while having a great time. Let’s rally together to support our school and make a real difference!

Here are some exciting headlines this week:

The Monster Bottle Non-School Uniform Day October 11th - During our Monster Ball (Oct 23rd), we are thrilled to bring back the much-loved "Bottle Tombola for Adults," a previous favourite that brought joy to so many before the pandemic. The best part? Everyone is a winner at this nostalgic stall, but to make it a success, we need your help to gather prizes!

On October 11th, we invite your child to participate in our non-school uniform bring-a-bottle day! Please send your child in with a bottle of any kind—be it shampoo, fizz, or anything else you can think of.  (Please wrap this well).  The more bottles we collect, the more adult winners there will be!  So come on, roll up, roll up, and get ready for some Monster Fun!

Pod Open Evening Monday 14th October: We warmly invite all parents and carers to our annual pod open evening. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to explore the exciting learning experiences at Llanrhidian. You can chat with the teachers, view your child's books and digital projects, and even ask any questions you may have.  Our pod open evening has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to our formal parent evening (held in the Spring Term), and we genuinely encourage you to come along and let your child guide you through their school experience. No booking is required - simply drop in anytime between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm.  Please do bear in mind that due to the nature of the event, teachers won't be able to engage in private discussions about individual pupils.

After School Movie Night October 18th - We are thrilled to announce that some of our fantastic parent volunteers are organising an after school movie night! This fun-filled event will be open to all pupils from Reception to Year 6, and will take place immediately after school. Stay tuned for more information on how to secure your child's spot for this delightful event!

Monster Ball Wednesday 23rd October -  (No Clwb Hwyl) @4.30 til 6:  There will be a disco in the marquee (run by Mr G); refreshments (Mrs Blackmore's Hotdogs); fancy dress (pupils and adults); Monster bottle tombola for adults and lots of fun! Please let us know if you can help decorate the marquee!   If you can support the event with donations of cakes or treats to sell, we would be most grateful.  Weather permitting - this will be an outside event.  If you want to volunteer to run a refreshment stall or decorate the marquee, please get in touch with Mrs Gosney.  Thank you to those who have already offered.

Christmas Market 27th November  - We’re excited to announce our upcoming Christmas market, taking place in Oldwalls Gower on Wednesday, 27th November from 3:30pm to 8pm!

Bring the family along to enjoy Santa’s Grotto, browse through our local stallholders, and indulge in some scrumptious festive food and drinks. It’s a great way to support our community while creating some lovely memories with your loved ones.

If you or anyone you know is interested in having a stall, we’d love to hear from you! Just get in touch with Mrs Gosney. A table costs only £20, making it an affordable chance to showcase your products.  We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the joy of Christmas together!

What's the buzz from the pupils this week? "Cwestiwn yr Wythnos!" We ask pupils a weekly question in order to understand the pupils' views of our school. This week, we asked, 'What's the strangest thing your teacher does?'.

Pod Pengwin: "Mrs Marchant always laughs at Miss Walters when she reads a story, even when its not funny!"

Pod Pysgodyn: "My Teacher does the most ginormous sneezes ever!!"

Pod PryCop: "My teacher tries to make jokes and they are not funny at all!!"

Mr G's Internet Safety Tip of the Week: Online privacy and Safety - It is important for children to understand the significance of online privacy and safety as they begin to navigate the digital world through multiplayer games, educational apps, or online searches. Parents and carers can assist their children in comprehending what information is safe to share and what should be kept private. By providing proper guidance and establishing general rules, children can enjoy themselves and gain knowledge while ensuring their safety online.  Please click here for more information.
