Annwyl Parents and Carers,
Firstly, a huge thank you to all those who turned up for the parent meeting with our inspectors on Monday. What a positive way to kick off an inspection! On behalf of all the staff, we truly appreciate your support. This school is so special to us all, and working together undoubtedly benefits our learners.
Our pupils were nothing short of amazing during the inspection. They displayed remarkable politeness and exemplary behaviour, which makes us all incredibly proud. I am equally grateful to our dedicated staff, many of whom sacrificed their weekends and stayed late to support one another through what can be a particularly challenging process. Their commitment does not go unnoticed.
While the outcome of the inspection is under embargo until March 24th, I can share that the feedback was indeed positive. The inspectors recognised the wonderful community we have here at Llanrhidian. The forthcoming report will be condensed into a 1000-word document, alongside a 300-word summary tailored for parents. While it is impossible to encapsulate the essence of our school in such a limited word count, it will certainly provide a flavour of their findings. A tremendous well done to #TeamLlanrhidian, which includes every one of you!
Now that the inspection is behind us, we can refocus on our core purpose: providing the best education possible for our learners. We are thrilled to inform you that the installation of the new pupil kitchen is set to take place over the February half term. This development is particularly exciting, as the older pods will soon be able to partake in cooking lessons, helping them to develop essential life skills (and no more chopping vegetables in the classroom!). If there is anyone who would like to help us with these lessons, please let us know and you can join our army of amazing volunteers.
As we delve into the Spring term, we are eager to share our plans to enhance authentic learning experiences for all pupils. Our goal is to replace "pretend" with "real" wherever feasible. You may receive emails from your pod staff requesting assistance in sourcing these "real and authentic" materials as we continue to develop areas around the school, all rooted in the Froebelian approach. This educational philosophy emphasises holistic child development through structured play, creativity, and exploration.
Lastly, a big congratulations to our young farmers who organised a successful Farmers Market in the school marquee last Sunday. It was a lovely event, and I am sure it will be the first of many delightful gatherings to come. Thank you for your continued support and engagement in making our school community thrive!

This Week's Standing Items!
Mr G's Online Safety Tip: Use a safe child-friendly search engine. With the ever-increasing amount of material available on the internet, such as websites, images, and videos, it is crucial to search carefully. This guide will help parents and carers assist children in searching safely. Most children use search engines to find things on the Internet. Research has found that search providers’ sites are the most visited among the majority of children and young people. While search engines have incredible benefits, such as helping with school assignments, there is also a risk of children being exposed to potentially harmful or even illegal material. We encourage children to use safe search engines like Swiggle or Kiddle in school. For more information, please click here.
What's the buzz from the pupils this week? What did you think of the inspectors?
Pod Pengwin: There was lots of people and they said 'I love you and I love them too!' (Please note we have not verified this statement is true!).
Pod Pysgodyn: I spoke to one and he was very nice and friendly, we had to show him our digital files.
Pod Pry Cop: They were nice but they asked lots of questions! They were very happy. The one I talked to was a bit funny because when I was talking he said 'I didn't understand a single word of that'.
