Annwyl Parents and Carers,

Our Whole School Attendance is

Swansea Target 95%

Llanrhidian Target 96%

Last Week's Winners "Year 4 with 100%" WOW!!

As the crisp autumn air settles in, we are excited to share that our pupils are fully engaged in our whole school topic, 'Fizz, Flow, Freeze.' Their enthusiasm for EPIC Planning (Everyone Planning In Class) has shone as they have all contributed to our pod project overviews. This is so important as it links to their right of being heard and having their say. Links to these overviews have been sent via email, and you can also visit the pod pages on our website for more details.

Please could parents remind all family members not to park on the zig zag lines outside our school. These lines are in place to enhance the safety of our children during drop-off and pick-up times. Parking in these areas obstructs visibility for both drivers and pedestrians, increasing the risk of accidents.

At the end of the school day,  please be extra vigilant when collecting your child. With the gates open and the roads becoming increasingly busy, it is essential to keep a close eye on our young ones. Children can easily become distracted and may wander onto the road without looking. Your attentiveness can help ensure their safety.

Could you please take a moment to make sure that your child’s school uniform is clearly labelled with their name. This little job helps our staff ensure that the right jumper finds its way back to the right pupil.

A huge thank you to our community in helping our school be the best it can be! A special mention to our Caffi Cynefin team - it goes from strength to strength each week. Yesterday, every single table was full which makes such a lovely environment! We are on the look out for more china and cutlery to support this project, if anyone is having a clear out and is able to make a donation we would be so grateful!

Here are some exciting headlines this week:

The Monster Bottle Non-School Uniform Day October 11th - During our Monster Ball (Oct 23rd), we are thrilled to bring back the much-loved "Bottle Tombola for Adults," a previous favourite that brought joy to so many before the pandemic. The best part? Everyone is a winner at this nostalgic stall, but to make it a success, we need your help to gather prizes!

On October 11th, we invite your child to participate in our non-school uniform bring-a-bottle day! Please send your child in with a bottle of any kind—be it shampoo, fizz, or anything else you can think of.  (Please wrap this well).  The more bottles we collect, the more adult winners there will be!  So come on, roll up, roll up, and get ready for some Monster Fun!

Pod Open Evening Monday 14th October: We warmly invite all parents and carers to our annual pod open evening. This will be a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to explore the exciting learning experiences at Llanrhidian. You can chat with the teachers, view your child's books and digital projects, and even ask any questions you may have.  Our pod open evening has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to our formal parent evening (held in the Spring Term), and we genuinely encourage you to come along and let your child guide you through their school experience. No booking is required - simply drop in anytime between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm.  Please do bear in mind that due to the nature of the event, teachers won't be able to engage in private discussions about individual pupils.

After School Movie Night October 18th - We are thrilled to announce that some of our fantastic parent volunteers are organising an after school movie night! This fun-filled event will be open to all pupils from Reception to Year 6, and will take place immediately after school. Stay tuned for more information on how to secure your child's spot for this delightful event!

Monster Ball Wednesday 23rd October  (No Clwb Hwyl) @4.30 til 6:  There will be a disco in the marquee (run by Mr G); refreshments (Mrs Blackmore's Hotdogs); fancy dress (pupils and adults); Monster bottle tombola for adults and lots of fun! Please let us know if you can help decorate the marquee!   If you can support the event with donations of cakes or treats to sell, we would be most grateful.  Weather permitting - this will be an outside event.  If you want to volunteer to run a refreshment stall or decorate the marquee, please get in touch with Mrs Gosney.  Thank you to those who have already offered.

Christmas Market 27th November  - We’re excited to announce our upcoming Christmas market, taking place in Oldwalls Gower on Wednesday, 27th November from 3:30pm to 8pm!

Bring the family along to enjoy Santa’s Grotto, browse through our local stallholders, and indulge in some scrumptious festive food and drinks. It’s a great way to support our community while creating some lovely memories with your loved ones.

If you or anyone you know is interested in having a stall, we’d love to hear from you! Just get in touch with Mrs Gosney. A table costs only £20, making it an affordable chance to showcase your products.  We can’t wait to see you there and celebrate the joy of Christmas together!

What's the buzz from the pupils this week? "Cwestiwn yr Wythnos!" We ask pupils a weekly question in order to understand the pupils' views of our school.  "What do you want to be when you grow up?"

Pod Pengwin: "I want to be a fireman because I can put out fires. I also want to be Spiderman!"

Pod Pysgodyn: "I want to be firefighter because you get to slide down a big pole and I want to be a singer."

Pod PryCop: "I want to be a mechanic because you can fix cars and working with cars would be so fun!!"

Mr G's Internet Safety Tip of the Week: How to handle Apps-

It is important for parents and carers to be aware of the apps  that their children are using. The Welsh Government has provided a brief description of each app, along with tips to help keep your child safe online. You can access the guides by clicking on the link provided here. These guides can also help parents and caregivers navigate difficult conversations with their children about sensitive online issues.
