Cynefin: Cynefin is a Welsh word that cannot be directly translated into English but means a place of multiple belongings. To ensure our pupils develop Cynefin we will be celebrating the great Welsh outdoors, we will be looking at helping our local Gower farmers and seeing if we can set up our own Llanrhidian Fairtrade fayre! We know how good our Pili-Pala's are at looking after our environment so we will be helping our visitors in the air in the January Big School Birdwatch.
Rip-Roaring Reads: We believe that developing a love of literature is the first step to becoming a competent reader. Here are the books we will be enjoying with our pupils: Paddington at the Fair by Michael Bond, All the fun of the Fair by Caroline Hulse, Fair Shares by Pippa Goodhart, The Water Princess by Susan Verde, The Squirrels that Squabbled by Rachel Bright
If you know of any other great books, stories or poems that will support our topic, please let us know.
The following pages are an example of some of the learning we are planning this term. This is drawn from your child’s ideas from the launch day.
Please note that although we plan under each Area of Learning and Experience, we endeavour to make as many cross-curricular links as possible. As the topic unfolds and the children delve deeper, their ideas and interests may spark new, exciting changes, therefore some planning may change as we progress through the topic!
