Dear Parents and Carers,

Our Attendance now stands at 92.5%

(Same as last week!)

Swansea Target 95%

Llanrhidian Target 96%

We are nearly there folks!  Reports are being finalised and we are really pleased with the progress our pupils have made over the year.  A full year, with no covid restrictions, has really impacted positively upon our learners.  Being in school is so important to your child’s achievement, wellbeing, and wider development. The correlation with good attendance is clear,  and next year we would like every family to consider this when booking holidays.  Swansea is producing a new attendance policy which we will be sharing with you in September.   Please note your child's attendance, as of this week, will be on the report.  I know that together we can put Llanrhidian back on track.

All teachers are hoping to have their rooms decorated over the holidays and are also working hard on enhancing their displays.  If you have any artificial plants or fake flowers (broken or otherwise) please send them in as they make great borders for your children's work.

Here are the headlines this week:

After School Child Care (Clwb Ceirios) -  Thank you to those who have booked for next term.  As it stands we do not have enough bookings.  We are committed to running this club, but as you are aware it must pay for itself.  Please ensure you book for Autumn 1 before the end of term.  Click Here To Book.   Or to find out more please visit the Clwb Ceirios Web Page

Summer Raffle - Last big push for raffle prizes.  Our wonderful Mrs Blackmore will be putting the hampers together.  We will hold a special end of term assembly to draw the results.

New Dinner Money System -   As from September County have arranged for schools to have a new dinner money system instead of sQuid.  We will send out information regarding this as soon as we receive it.  In the meantime, please can parents ensure that they use up all credits by the end of term (21st July) and cancel any automatic top-ups.

Mr G's Internet Safety Tip of the Week:   The concept of influencers is hardly a new one, however, in this day and age anyone can be an influencer.  This is because there are so many platforms from which literally anyone can have their say. Online, you’ll find hordes of people talking about topics such as: gaming, beauty, travel, fashion, fitness … virtually anything you can think of. What qualifies them as ‘experts’, however? Is it safe for young people to consume the oceans of content that they generate?

Some of the things parents and carers can do is to:

  • Keep talking to their children about the content they consume.
  • Set some boundaries such as age appropriate content boundaries.
  • Support a happy self-image.

For more information please click here.

Premises Plea - We are always looking to make our environment welcoming, interesting and stimulating.  We need:-

  • Artificial plants,
  • Real house plants
  • Interesting ornaments (not too delicate)
  • Fake Grass
  • Cut logs for seats
  • Slices of log for displays
  • Bark chippings for paths
  • Good quality board games, packs of cards
