Our topic this term is 

'A Right Royal Rumble'

Pod Project Overview 

Let’s get ready to royal rumble as we discover the life and adventures of Queen Elizabeth II, her homes, family and of course her curious corgis.  

 

Cynefin:Cynefin is a Welsh word that cannot be directly translated into English, but means a place of multiple belongings.  We will be looking at Castles that are local to us.   

  

Rip-Roaring Reads: We believe that developing a love of literature is the first step to becoming a competent reader.  Here are some of the books we will be enjoying with our pupils.  If you know of any great books, stories or poems that will support our topic, please let us know.

Mrs Parry loves a good party and can’t wait to celebrate the Queens Jubilee. She needs to let her friends know all the party details. Can you make party invitations to send to her friends?

 

Prince George loves reading a good book but has run out of books to read, can you draw a picture of your favourite bedtime story and tell him why you think your story is the best?

Oh No!! Someone has stolen the Queens crown! Can you use different shapes and patterns to help make the Queen a new crown ready for the Jubilee party?

Oh Dear the Knight has got stuck up a tree while trying to save the Princess. How can we help the Knight get down? Who will help us save him?

 

Princess Beatrice was not happy with our garden when she came to visit, we will be busy getting it ready for her return. We want to attract lots of mini beasts to our garden. Can you choose some plants that will please the Queen Bee?

Mrs Gosney treats her pet dog Smudge like royalty, do you have a pet? What can you tell us about them? Are they as posh as the Queens Corgis?

 

The Queen is furious as her royal chef has double booked and can’t make the Jubilee. Can you help by making some delicious healthy treats for the big day?

Let’s get ready to party!! But wait… we don’t have any decorations, can you help Mrs Parry make Jubilee Bunting to decorate Pod Pili-Pala ready for the big Jubilee party?

 

Oh No! The Queens royal maid has left the tap running on the Queens bath and flooded the Royal gallery below. Can you become royal artists and help the Queen by painting some new portraits of her to display in the gallery?

 

Mrs Gosney has been dreaming of buying a castle for her holiday home in the Gower. Can you help her find the best castle in the Gower?

The Queen bee has got lost in our garden, can you help her find her way back to the hive by navigating through the flowers using simple directions.

 Mrs Gosney has been late for school 3 days this week because her car was frozen. She woke up really early one morning and caught an icy figure freezing the windscreen on her car? Who do you think did it?

Mrs Marchant is really greedy and always wats the biggest cake at the tea party? Can you help Mrs Parry order the cakes by size to make sure it is fair?

Size Ordering

What a terrible tea party, runny jelly, solid marmalade and the hot chocolate was still a bar! What do you know about the different states of matter? How would you plan a better tea party?

Can you chase the White Rabbit and follow him down the rabbit hole? What different movements can you make?

Oh My Gosh Mrs Parry has accidently thrown out all of our beautiful party decorations. Can you help her make some bunting for our tea party?

 Oh dear Mrs Gosney has seen a magpie with a broken beak… Jack Frost has been out and frozen the ground so the birds can’t peck food from underground. How can you help the wildlife in our wild area?

Alice loves ice cream and wants to take some to the tea party for her friends. Can you collect data to find out what everyone’s favourite flavour is?
