                              What is VE day?

VE Day  stands for 'Victory in Europe Day'  and it marks the end of the fighting in Europe in World War Two (WW2).

On 8 May 1945, Prime Minister Winston Churchill made an announcement on the radio at 3pm that the war in Europe had come to an end.

Tuesday 8 May, 1945, was an emotional day that millions of people had been waiting for. Many people were extremely happy that the fighting had stopped and there were big celebrations and street parties.

Poppies are worn as a symbol to remember the soldiers and people who fought in wars to keep us safe from harm. Miss Blackmore has created 3 videos showing you some crafts to make, if you wish, to decorate your home on VE Day.
