    Dear Parents and Carers,

We have launched our new topic "A Right Royal Rumble" and are busy planning the term's learning with our pupils.  You will soon receive your "Pod Project Overview" so you can see how the staff will develop your child's knowledge, skills and understanding through authentic and fun experiences.

Unfortunately we have been received extremely negative feedback from Princess Beatrice (Queen Victoria's Daughter) regarding our gardens.  Please watch this video.    We are rather embarrassed as we have just had our platinum green flag award! Each pod has now got an area to develop, and we are hoping that you will help.  If we do a good enough job, maybe the princess will even bring her mother back to see the progress!

Here are the headlines this week:-

Thank You - Pat and Mrs Williams has asked me to thank all the parents for their kind words and gifts at the end of term.  They will both be missed, but I know they will keep in touch.

Premises Plea - I am always overwhelmed by the support of parents when we ask for help.  It makes such a difference to our environment, and enables us to spend our limited budget on other resources and experiences for the pupils.   As a result, governors have suggested that we put out our needs as a regular feature on this blog.  If you can help with any of the following, please contact me, the office  or your pod staff. This week we need:-

    1. Decking planks (New floor for the Pengwin house)

    2. Plants, soil, bark chippings (To improve our gardens)

    3. Removal of old willow sticks (we are rather over run with sticks and branches that need to make way for summer fun)

    4. Good quality toys eg lego, cars, role play etc for Pengwins and Pili Pala

    5. Good quality children's books (see below information about a book sale event)

The Big Llanrhidian Bedtime Story Week  9th-13th May 2022 - We are very excited to announce that we will be hosting our very first "Bedtime Story Week".  Throughout the week, all pupils will immerse themselves in a variety of activities linked to our love of reading and imagination. Staff and pupils will all share some of their favourite stories and become their own authors and write their own fairy tales.  On Tuesday 10th May 2022 we will have a Llanrhidian 2nd hand book sale to help raise much-needed funds for our school. We are now collecting any good quality children's storybooks for this sale, if you have any books that you would like to donate to our 2nd hand book sale then please send to school with your child. Books will only be sold on 10th May and all books will be £1.  Please send your child in with £1 so they can attend the sale.  Finally, on Friday 13th of May we will end our exciting Bedtime Story week by having our very own Pyjamarama event. Pupils will be invited to come into school in their pyjamas where they will enjoy some exciting bedtime treats and activities.

Have a super "extra long" bank holiday weekend,

    Mrs Caswell

  • School Blog Friday 22nd April

    Fri 22 Apr 2022 D Caswell

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly I apologise for not sending out a blog on the last day of term, hence I am sending one out today.  I hope you have all had a wonderful Easter break, and enjoyed the bonnet parade.  A huge thank you to all the staff who organised this in my absence.  I was so disappointed not to be part of the celebrations, and to say goodbye to Mrs Williams and Pat, but I could see by Twitter and the videos sent to me that the event was a great success.  Thank you for attending and supporting us in this way, let's hope there will be many more to come.

A big thank you to the parents who have helped us with our school grounds.  It is amazing to know how many of you will support us in this way, and it makes such a positive impact on the provision for our pupils.  We have had the mound redeveloped; Siop Ceirios moved; and I know some super dads are helping us to repair our much loved polytunnel - so thank you!  With the summer ahead of us we will soon be planting and will keep you posted with regards some exciting plans for our gardens.

As usual we will be launching our new whole school topic on the first day of term.  (Monday 25th April).  Again, thank you for the staff for being creative, innovative and going that extra mile to ensure the pupils are motivated.  As always we will be involving the pupils in designing and planning the learning for the term ahead.  Look out for a new "Pod Project Overview" which will be posted on the pod pages in the next few weeks.

As always, if you think you can support or enhance our curriculum in any way, please let your pod staff know.  Here are some key diary dates:-
