There is so much going on across the school it really is important that everyone reads our school blog. It is going to be "very busy" few weeks!
If you would like to send your child into school in a Christmas jumper for Christmas Dinner and during the last week of term you are welcome. If not, please wear school uniform.
Thank you for ordering reserve Christmas show tickets, please send the money in by end of Monday so we can send them home. Please understand that the office is not open for any sales, and money must be sent into school a clearly marked envelope. If we have any left we will let you know! Here are the headlines this week:-
Raffle Tickets - Tickets are now on sale via sQuid or by sending money in to the office in a clearly marked envelope. The raffle draw is Monday 19th December. Please help us by sending in pod prizes such as:-
- Chocolates
- Wine
- Toiletries
- Christmas gifts
We also need big stand alone gifts from local businesses (Can you help?) If you have any unwanted wicker baskets we would love to up-cycle them into hampers.
Marchnad Nadolig December 13th. Market Stalls and Santa's Grotto 2.30 - 4.30 - With your help this is going to be a great community event. Pupils can be collected from 2.30, or at usual time. The school bus will run as normal. The market will include:-
- A free Santa's grotto to all our primary school pupils and their younger siblings.
- A parent refreshment stall - Please let me know if you can set up and run this stall or can send in Christmassy cakes, treats etc for the stall.
- Christmas Market Stalls - We still have some room if you would like to hold your own table top stall. Please let us know. We do not charge for the stall, so please spread the word.
- Mrs Blackmore's Christmas Kitchen - Turkey and Stuffing Rolls (Veggie Option Available)

We really are in the throws of Christmas now, and the pupils are busy learning lines, songs and dancing. It really is a joy to see them working so hard for something that will bring joy to others. Our whole school trip was a huge success, and the pupils were all beautifully behaved, a real credit to us all.
Our School Savings Club has launched, and we have welcomed some super savers. This club is led by a group of Llanrhidian pupils and they are busy encouraging others to save and to understand the benefits of saving. Please encourage your child to save each week, even if it is a few pence. To join the savers please click here. Your child can have their own junior account and save as much or as little as they like. Here are the headlines this week:-
Caffi Cynefin - Our Caffi is proving to be a great success. The big question is, "can we keep it going?" We are certainly going to try because it is an amazing opportunity for our pupils to learn about the world of work, as well as give back to the community which supports them. Unfortunately we are unable to have our cakes from Oldwalls anymore as they are getting so busy. We are very grateful for the cakes we have had to date, but are now looking for another sponsor. Can you help? We really need a regular supply that we can rely on each week. A huge thank you to those that donate, this is making a huge difference. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know. Please spread the word, and if you can bring an elderly person with you, I am sure it will make their day. For more information click here.
Community Council Event - The Community Council are decorating the Christmas tree in the village (on Church green) at 9am on Saturday morning. Any local parents and children are welcome to come along and help.
Raffle Tickets - This year you are able to purchase Christmas Raffle Tickets by two means. Firstly we will be sending home tickets which you can return with cash or a cheque. Secondly, you are able to purchase tickets via sQuid. The tickets will cost £1 each and if you pay by sQuid, we will complete the tickets for you, and send you confirmation. Every ticket sold raises vital money for pupil resources and every pupil benefits from your generosity. The raffle draw is Monday 19th December.
Raffle Prizes - Please help us with prizes. We will again creating the famous "Mrs Blackmore's Hampers" as prizes. Please send in a Christmassy item for your pod's hamper. This could be wine, chocolates, small gift, toiletries etc. Please send these in as soon as possible, but before Monday 12th December. We also need stand alone prizes, so if you know any business who would offer a voucher or prize, please let us know. We will always tweet a thank you, and are happy to add a twitter tag if the business has one.

A big thank you to Oldwalls Gower who is sponsoring the gifts at the grotto. To make this a great event, we need volunteers who are willing to run a parent refreshment stall and contributions of seasonal cakes, snacks etc.
There will be external stall holders in the marquee as part of the Marchnad" so this could be a great community event! Please spread the word!

Its now officially the run up to Christmas 2022. We will be very busy preparing for Christmas Shows, (part of our expressive arts and literacy curriculum); Christmas crafts which will be sold on our online shopping channel (part of our numeracy curriculum); a Marchnad Nadolig (With a free Santa's Grotto) Carol Service (school choir) in the local church and a Christmas raffle. We will keep you updated with all the Christmas events via this blog, so please share it with your family. I have also included a summary of whole school dates at the end of this article. As I have said before, we don't want to do what we did before covid, we want to do it BETTER! Please remember to check the website calendar, and if you think something is missing let us know. Here are the headlines this week:-
Christmas Show Tickets - We are delighted to be able to offer you 2 tickets per family per show (not per performance). Please note that if you have 2 pupils in the same pod then this is still 2 tickets per family. Please discuss within your own family who will have the two tickets. There is a finite capacity in our school hall which is why the staff are working very hard to do 8 performances across the school.
To Purchase Tickets please use the order form that has been sent to you. (Some received this yesterday, others will today). This must be returned by Wednesday 30th November. Tickets will only be allocated and sent home on receipt of payment (£2.50 per ticket - cash or cheque payable to Llanrhidian Primary School). Please send this in with your order form in a clearly marked envelope. Please note we are not selling tickets from the office. Once we have ensured that every family has had the option to purchase 2 tickets, we will then release more on a first come first serve basis. Please be kind to our office staff who will be ensuring this is a fair process. If you would like to be considered for a further reserve ticket, please let us know.
Photographs Friday 18th November - We will have having individual children photographs on this day. If you would like a family photo, please let the office know so we can arrange a time. The photos will be back in time for Christmas presents. You can decide how you want your child dressed for the photos, as these may make great Christmas gifts.
Children in Need -Friday 18th November - We will be raising money and celebrating Children in Need by having an odd sock day! Time to dig out those odd socks and show them off to your friends. A small donation to Children in Need will be appreciated.
Marchnad Nadolig December 13th. Market Stalls and Santa's Grotto 2.30 - 4.30 - With the cost of living rise, we would like to offer a free Santa's grotto to all our primary school pupils and their younger siblings. We need to source around 200 selection boxes for this and are hoping that a business may sponsor these for us. If you know of anyone, please ask them, or pass on their details to us. We are also hoping to run the event in a similar way to the Monster Ball. If there are any parents who are willing to run a parent refreshment stall, we would be so grateful. This was a massive success and the pupils loved it. There will be external stall holders in the marquee as part of the Marchnad" so this could be a great community event! Please spread the word!
