    Dear Parents/Carers,

I again want to thank you all for your diligence and patience at pick up times. Giving way to pedestrians as they walk down the side lane has made a huge difference, so thank you.  Please remember we have a window of collection until 3.40 to spread out the traffic and the crowds.  Please do not feel you have to arrive early.  I have put a reminder of class finishing times below.

    Afternoon Nursery -  3.15

    Reception to Year 2 - 3.20

    Year 3 to Year 6 - 3.25

    Here are this week's headlines:

    1.  Governors and staff have reviewed our current risk assessment and have agreed to make the following amendments to our current provision.  From Tuesday 4th April, Podlets Pengwin and Pysgodyn will re-merge into their whole pod.  The decision has been made as these two pods will still remain small enough to be a manageable bubble should there be a need for self isolation.  The benefits are shared staff expertise, more effective read, write inc groupings and more shared resources.  We are not considering this for Pod PryCop at this time,  as this pod would be too big.  We will, however, keep this under constant review.   As always we take advice from the local authority and it's operational guidance for schools.

    2. We were so sad to share the news of Roy Collins this week.  Roy has been such a supportive member of our school community for many years.  As a pupil himself, he loved this school and its grounds.  His family have asked for donations, in lieu of flowers, to fund outdoor furniture for the school.  There has been a staggering response and £1340 has been raised so far.  Thank you all so much for your donations, and if you would like to donate please follow this link  https://www.love2donate.co.uk//inmemory/identify_name.php?currentpage=1&chosen=40914

    3. A very big congratulations to our lovely Mr Dowsett.  He has been successful in his application to a leadership secondment, for one year, at another Swansea school.  We are looking forward to welcoming Mrs Carly Morgan to our team, who is also a successful seconded leadership candidate.  Mrs Morgan will be joining us as a senior member of staff from September.

    4. Diary Dates  - Don't forget to look at the website calendar for important dates.  Out teachers try very hard to keep this up to date.  But do let us know if we have missed something.

Have a fabulous bank holiday weekend, and we will see you all on Tuesday.

    Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you again for another safe week in Llanrhidian.  Pick up and drop off are working very well, and we appreciate your patience with all the systems in place.  As restrictions are lifted in the community, schools are still governed by national and local operational plans, so we will inform you if and when there are any changes.  Here are a few headlines this week:-

    1. Track, Trace & Protect - If we have a positive case we are asked for a lot of information surrounding the individual.  This includes whether the child attends any other childcare (formal or informal).  For this reason, please inform the school by completing an online form.  This can be accessed here.

    2. School Grounds - We always strive to make improvements to our outdoors during the Summer term, and this year we are focusing on well-being.  We are fundraising for recycled rainbow benches, and have already received some kind donations from parents.  Thank you so much.   Every little helps, so if you are able to support us with a financial contribution, please send into school.  We are also preparing for our well-being (24th May) week so we are asking for donations of outdoor plants (annuals or perenials), large pots and soil.

    3. Pyjamarama Day Friday 14th May 2021 - Join the PJ Masks, Tracy Beaker and Horrid Henry for a fun day in your pyjamas.

Children are invited to wear their pyjamas to school to spend the day reading, enjoying and sharing stories together.

Pyjamarama is all about getting children excited about reading,

fundraising and to make sure every child gets their bedtime story. Please send in a small donation of £1 per family. Money raised will be sent to the Booktrust.   For more information on how Booktrust supports children’s reading please visit the following link: https://www.booktrust.org.uk/what-we-do/

    Have a fabulous weekend

    Kind Regards

    Mrs Caswell

    Dear Parents and Carers,

We have had a superb first week back, and a huge thanks to the staff who have planned exciting activities to launch the new topic "Go Go Gower Rangers!".

It has been wonderful to see all the pupils back, and it has begun to feel a little more normal for us all.  We continue to operate under our Risk Assessment and Swansea's Operational Guidance, and hope to make as much use of the outdoors as possible this term.

As you are aware, we cannot hold our traditional events, but will endeavour to make the term as special as possible.  Here are the headlines this week.  Please share with all close family members.

    1. The 100 Club Lottery - As we have been hit very hard financially through Covid, we are asking parents to support us by entering our 100 club lottery.  This is a bit of fun for everyone, and will provide us with much needed funds.  The first draw of the term will be on April 30th.  You can pay £5 or £10 depending on how many weeks you would like play.  For more information click here.

    2.  Parent Consultations - During the week of 7th June and 14th June, your teachers will give you an opportunity for a 10 minute phone call or teams meeting. If you need to learn how to use "Teams"  please click here.  You will also recieve a written report for your child towards the end of term.

    3.  Marquee - Thank you to Mr Mabbett for our marquee.  This has been an excellent additional space for the school and every pod has used it effectively for PE and Gym.  As a result we will be hiring this again next year for the 6 winter months.  When  this is taken down for the summer, we plan to grow wild flowers in the space, giving the pupils another valuable learning opportunity.

    4. Fundraising - As the weather warms up our pupils will be using the outdoors more and more.  We really need more tables and benches to support this, and have learnt that the re-cycled plastic variety are the most durable.  However, these are very expensive.  If anyone has any contacts with a firm who can support us with this quest, please let us know.  Or, if you know of a business who may be willing to support us to purchase a bench, please pass on our details.  From our initial research tables costs approximately £500.   We will, as always, tweet a thanks to promote any business who can support us.  Any donations, of any amount would be hugely appreciated!

Many Thanks again for all you help and support during these uncertain times.

    Have a lovely weekend.

    Mrs Caswell
